| Valentine Macie works with earthy, dark shades, often blues
and greens to satisfy his needs for powerful and strong effects. He spent three years researching the almost forgotten traditions, folklore and tales of the people of Inhambane Province, Mozambique. PERSONAL DETAILS: Born on 11th November, 1958 in Maputo, Mozambique. Studied Visual Arts at the Maputo Industrial Technical School where he was tutored by amongst others Maria Da Luz Milu (a painter); Joao Paulo and Malagatana famous Mozambican artist. INFLUENCES: He attributes his love of painting to his uncle the painter Lucas Macie. Both Samate and Malagatana were further strong influences. EXHIBITIONS: Museum of Art, Maputo.
