Shewula's Cultural Weekend

Shewula Mountain camp, in the far North East of Swaziland, will be hosting a cultural weekend on the 26th to the 28th of April. The purpose of the event is to promote Swazi traditions and culture.
Shewula Mountain Camp is the product of co-operation between the Shewula Community under Chief Mbandzamane Sifundza and members of the Lubombo Conservancy. This new tourist camp is wholly owned by the community. The Shewula community wishes to invite guests to join them in celebrating the Swazi Culture during this weekend.
On the Saturday there will be show, which will consist of Ummiso, a dance performed by maidens, Sibhaca, a dance performed by young men and Umgubho, a dance performed by elderly men.
Traditional instruments like Licilongo, a type of wind instrument, and a Makhwenyane, a type of guitar, will be used as part of the entertainment. Traditional beer will be served and local handicrafts will be on sale.
In the afternoon the Shewula Theatre Group will perform a play on the history of Shewula, this play will explain Shewula's relationships with local tribes, especially the Dlaminis and Mahlalelas of Lomahasha.
In the evening a traditional Swazi dinner made from organic food will be served, followed by guests participating in a dance. Sunday morning, guests will be taken on a community walk or can join a guided nature walk where the guide will point out local points of interest along the way. Guests will also have an opportunity to visit a Sangoma.
Guests may arrive on Friday after 4pm, all meals will be catered for until Sunday Lunch. The camp can accommodate 24 people in the huts and 20 people camping.
